Alright faithful Transparent Chinese readers/viewers, the time has finally come… my first video post has arrived! Despite the weather here raining on my parade and my ideas for outdoor related videos, I still managed to put together something that I think is interesting and helpful for Chinese learners. To supplement your viewing, I typed up a vocabulary list to go along with the clip. In the video itself, there are subtitles with the 汉字 and 拼音 every time I 说汉语 (speak Chinese), but there’s no English. Below, I have included the subtitles from the video plus their English translations, in order to help you understand what is going on. Enjoy!
今天是雨天
Jīn tiān shì yǔ tiān
Today is a rainy day (lit. – today is rain day)
这是周末, 所以我不想呆在家里
Zhè shì zhōu mò, suǒ yǐ wǒ bù xiǎng dāi zài jiā lǐ
It’s the weekend, so I don’t want to stay inside. (lit. – this is weekend, so I no want stay at home inside)
我有我的雨伞和我的雨衣
Wǒ yǒu wǒ de yǔ sǎn hé wǒ de yǔyī
I have my umbrella and my rain coat.

Thanks! That is great. I’m learning chinese by myself and your video with the transcript is of great help. Nice job.
By the way, I like your T-shirt. Any idea where I could find one?
Thanks again.

To Mindal… of course my pronunciation is not standard. I’m not Chinese! If my Chinese were perfect, then I wouldn’t have to study it anymore. This is a blog written by foreigners, for foreigners, to help us all assist each other in learning Chinese.

To everyone else, thanks for the support!
Oh, and Bernard, you can find the Chairman Mao t-shirts just about anywhere in Beijing. His face is everywhere you look here.
