For some extra practice, go ahead and watch this video and practice your pronunciation:

When do you…?

Now let’s use those words and try to practice asking/answering questions:

你什么时候…?
nǐ shén me shí hòu
When do you…?

你几点…?
nǐ jǐ diǎn
What time do you…?

Here are some examples of Q&As:

你什么时候起床?
nǐ shén me shí hòu qǐ chuáng
When do you wake up?

我七点起床
wǒ qī diǎn qǐ chuáng
I wake up at 7.

你几点下班?
nǐ jǐ diǎn xià bān
What time do you get off work?

我五点半上班
wǒ wǔ diǎn bàn shàng bān
I get off work at 5:30.

See if you can form a few questions and answers on your own based on these examples.

Extra Practice

Every day might not be the same, though. Some days, we do different things at different times. For example…

我有时候早上八点上班,有时候下午一点上班
wǒ yǒu shí hou zǎo shàng bā diǎn shàng bān, yǒu shí hou xià wǔ yī diǎn shàng bān
Sometimes I go to work at 8 AM, and sometimes I work at 1 PM.

我一般十点做运动
wǒ yī bān shí diǎn zuò yùn dòng
I usually do exercise at 10 o’clock.

周末的时候我十一点起床
zhōu mò de shí hou wǒ shí yī diǎn qǐ chuáng
I get up at 11 on the weekends.

Using the vocabulary from this lesson, your awesome time-telling skills, and the three examples provided above, try to make a sentence with:

  • Sometimes I…
  • I usually…
  • On the weekend…

Thanks for this useful post! But shouldn’t it be 洗碗 instead of 洗完?

    • sasha:

@ZelieZazou Yep! Thanks for catching that one. I went ahead and changed it 🙂
