Fire Safety! Posted by on Jul 4, 2009 in Esperanto Language

La Tago de Sendependenco venas! En Usono, ni celebras la tagon kun la artfajrajxoj. They’re a lot of fun, and beautiful to see, but they can also be dangerous. I wish any and all of our American readers a safe holiday. However, if you’re not the most cautious reveler, here’s a handful of words that might be useful to you! Keep them in mind if you happen to light your lawn aflame.

Brulema – Flammable
Bruligxi – To combust
Estingi – To extinguish
Petardo – Firecracker
Splendajxoj – Sparklers

    ĉu vi konas Daniel Salomon kaj lian prelegon:
    Kio estas bruliĝo?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsMqwKE0dgM

    tre amuza kaj instrua

    independence = sen-de-pend-ec-o, do vi havas troan n… 🙂

    Kaj oni celebras PER la piroteĥnikaĵoj, kvankam oni povas diri “kun” se oni vere volas.

    Just stumbled on your blog, and I’ll certainly come back and have a look around it again. Sorry to make my first comment on it a grammatical nitpick, but “to combust” in Esperanto is “bruli”. To burn something else is “bruligi”. Likewise, “ekbruli” means “to burst into flames”, while “ekbruligi” is “to set fire to something”.

    Other than that — keep up the good work! :o)
