November 21st was the day of Guru Nanak Jayanti’s birthday. Guru Nanak (गुरु नानक) is the founder of the Sikh religion.
The celebration of Guru Nanak lasts for three days and in places like Punjab, these celebrations are especially festive. The celebration is marked by a elaborate display of fireworks as shown here :
The Akal Takht (अकाल तख़्त) is a sacred gathering place for the Sikhs. On Guru Nanak’s birthday, the place is beautifully light to honor the Guru. Prior to the birthday celebration, a procession of chanters, flag bearers and martial artists will march the streets. Here in this video the crowd watches a form of martial arts called Gatka.

Love this post, it was cool to see the Gatka performed on the street. So important to take a moment and learn about the founder of such a beautiful religion.
