Nothing excites me more than writing about Hindi so I decided to write for Transparent Language as a blogger. I’m one of the new writers for the Hindi blog. My name is Nitin Kumar, and I’m from New Delhi, the capital city of India. New Delhi lies at the heart of the north India, where Hindi originated and evolved.

I come from a family in which my mother was a Hindi teacher, so it was quite normal in our family to discuss Hindi issus. This background has not only made me more interested in Hindi but also given me an inspiration to share my knowhow to others.

These days, even though I’m doing my master degree about a totally different subject and in a place that is very far away from India, the excitement about the Hindi language and Hindi culture has encouraged me to talk about it. I have been given a great opportunity to share my language and culture with all of you.

When you have decided to learn Hindi you may doubt yourself – saying, “Is there any other reason besides understanding interesting Hindi movies that I should learn Hindi?” Here, I would like to present some of them that I think you’ll find interesting. I will discuss many more in coming posts. You will also find what I can offer you, in order to help you continue with your Hindi learning.

In India, Hindi is the native tongue for 422 Million people and is used as a second language by many others. It is spoken in many other countries like Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Fiji, Guyana, Mauritius, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. Besides this, it is also spoken by immigrant populations from India in many countries worldwide.

Economically, the Hindi speaking region, particularly in the north, has been quite prosperous and this has resulted in the flow of people coming to this region from other regions of India where Hindi is not spoken. In my personal experience, I have seen these people learn Hindi on their own incredibly fast. Within a month or two, they can understand and speak basic Hindi very well and without any lessons. Therefore I always wondered if it was something in the Hindi language itself that made it quite easy to learn. Do you know how you can identify the gender of subject or object? In lessons, we will see how to learn some tricks that help you learn and remember grammatical rules in no time.

Many of you might already know many Hindi words in your own language! Did you know that “Nirvana”, “Guru”, “Pundit”, “Chakra”, “Thug”, “Yoga”, “Pyjama”, “Jungle”, “loot” and so many other words are from Hindi?  More and more words are being adapted into the English dictionary every year. This could be because of the growing influence that Hindi speakers are having on the world.

Many of you might also enjoy watching Hindi movies and listening to Hindi songs.  These are definitely good source of learning Hindi and its culture. However, while living in another country and watching dubbed Hindi movies, it made me realize that the translation does not bring out the real meaning. I even thought that these people would have enjoyed Hindi movies much more if they knew Hindi. In coming post, I will suggest some Hindi movies to you.

Love for Indian arts doesn’t end with Hindi movies. There is so much more to explore. You all might have come across to some exotic music on the radio, TV, or bar. Some of you may have wondered about some songs written by The Beatles, listening to Hindi words in songs like “Hey Lord” or Indian music in their numerous other songs. Those wonderful songs share a direct connection to Indian classical music. Many other famous bands including Led Zeppelin, Donovan, Coldplay and many more were and still are influenced by Indian classical music. Those who wish to learn Indian classical music will find it easy to start once you have understood Hindi.

Those who love history, old religions or ancient civilizations, learning Hindi can be a good start. Many of the world’s oldest documents on history e.g. Purana, Philosophy e.g. Bhagvat Gita, Medicine e.g. Ayurveda, Knowledge e.g. Vedas, Fitness and devotion Yoga and oldest epics e.g. Ramayana and Mahabharata, old religions e.g. Hinduism and Buddhism besides several other, are written in Sanskrit.  Sanskrit is very difficult language but once a person can master the Hindi script and grammar, it can give a huge start in learning Sanskrit as both shares the same script, the Devanagari script.  Many of Hindi words are taken or derived from Sanskrit as Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages in the Indo- European language group.

Today, India is one of the fastest growing nations in the world and in coming days it’ll surely influence the world in economical, cultural or other way. As the majority of Indian speaks Hindi, the world will come across more Hindi much. For future, learning Hindi could be a wonderful experience.

मेरे परिवार में मेरी माँ स्वयं एक हिंदी शिक्षका है और इसी कारण मेरे घर में दिन प्रतिदिन हिंदी के विषयों पर चर्चा होना काफी सामान्य सा था. इसने ना केवल मेरी रूचि हिन्दी में बड़ाई बल्कि मेरी यह रूचि दूसरो के साथ जारी रखने के लिए प्रेरित किया।

इन दिनों जब कि जब मैं भारत से बहुत दूर अपनी मास्टर डिग्री पूरी तरह से अलग ही विषय में कर रहा हूँ, हिंदी और इससे जुडी संस्कृति की मेरे लगाव ने मुझे एक बार फिर इसके बारे में बात करने और आप सभी के साथ अपनी भाषा और संस्कृति बताने का अवसर दिया गया है।

जब आपने हिन्दी सीखने का सोचा होगा तब हो सकता है की आपने सभी कारणों के बारे में सोचो हो, कि हिन्दी फिल्मों को समझने के अतिरिक्त हिन्दी क्यों सीखना चाहते है यहाँ मैं उनमें से कुछ दिलचस्प कारणों आपको बताना चाहूँगा. मैं कई और अन्य आने वाले पोस्ट में चर्चा करेंगे. मैं आपको यह भी बताना चाहूँगा की मैं आपकी हिन्दी सीखने में क्या और केसे मदद कर सकता हूँ।

आओ हिन्दी पर कुछ दिलचस्प तथ्य जाने, भारत में हिंदी 42 करोड़ लोगों की मातृभाषा है जबकी कई अन्य लोगों द्वारा दूसरी भाषा के रूप में इस्तेमाल की जाती है. यह नेपाल, पाकिस्तान, अफगानिस्तान, फिजी, गुयाना, मॉरिशस, सूरीनाम, और त्रिनिदाद और टोबैगो में इस्तेमाल की जा सकती है. इस के अलावा, यह भारत से आप्रवासी जनसंख्या द्वारा दुनिया भर के कई अन्य देशों में इस्तेमाल की जाती है।

आर्थिक रूप से हिन्दी भाषी क्षेत्र काफी समृद्ध रहा है और उस की वजह से देश के अन्य हिस्से से लोगों, जहां हिन्दी नहीं बोली जाती, इस क्षेत्र में आए है. मेरा व्यक्तिगत अनुभव रहा, कि इन लोगों ने बहुत तेजी से हिंदी सीखी है. एक या दो महीने के भीतर, वे न केवल बोलचाल हिंदी समझ सकते   बल्कि बोल भी सकते हैं और दिलचस्प यह है कि यह भी बिना किसी शिक्षा के. मेने हमेशा सोचा कि यह कुछ हिंदी भाषा में ही है जो इसे इतना आसान बनाता हैं. आपको पता है कि आप वाक्य में विषय या वस्तु के लिंग को कैसे पता कर सकते हैं? आने वाले पोस्ट हम देखेंगे कि हम यह कैसे जाने और कुछ ही समय में कई व्याकरणिक नियमों याद करने में उपयोगी इस तरह के कुछ और गुर सीख सकते हैं।

आप में से कई हिंदी फिल्में देखने और हिन्दी गाने सुनना पसंद करते होंगे. जो निश्चित रूप से हिंदी और हिंदी बोलने वालों की संस्कृति सीखने का अच्छा स्रोत है. हालांकि, जबकि मैं खुद किसी दूसरे देश में रह रहा हूँ जब जब मेंने हिन्दी फिल्म दूसरी भाषा में देखी तब मेने पाया की अनुवादित हिन्दी फिल्म में अनुवाद सही नही था. मैंने सोचा कि अगर लोग हिन्दी जानते हैं और फिर हिन्दी फिल्म देखे तो वे इसे और भी बहुत पसंद करते. आगे की पोस्ट में मैं आपको कुछ और हिंदी फिल्में सुझाव करूगा।

भारतीय कला इन दिलचस्प हिंदी फिल्मों में ही अंत नहीं हो जाता है, अपने कई बार रेडियो या फिर टीवी पर कुछ आलग संगीत सुना होगा और उनके बारे में सोचा होगा. आपको कुछ the Beatles’ गीतों, जेसे “Hey Lord” पर आश्चर्य हो सकता है उनके कुछ गीतो में में हिन्दी शब्दों का उपयोग हुआ हैं. अन्य बहुत गीतो में भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत का उपयोग हुआ है. कई अन्य प्रसिद्ध बैंड The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Donovan, Coldplay और कई अन्य भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत से प्रभावित हैं. जो भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत सीखना चाहते हैं, उनके के लिए हिन्दी सीख कर भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत सीखना बहुत आसान हो सकता है।

जो इतिहास, प्राचीन सभ्यता या पुराने धर्मों का अध्ययन पसंद करते हैं उनके हिंदी सीखना एक अच्छी शुरुआत हो सकती है. दुनिया के सबसे प्राचीन लेख है, भारतीय है. जेसे की इतिहास में “पुराण”, दर्शनशात्र में  “भगवद्गीता”, चिकित्सा में “आयुर्वेद”, ज्ञान में “वेद”, फिटनेस और भक्ति में “योग” और पुराने महाकाव्यों में “रामायण” और “महाभारत”, पुराने धर्मों में हिंदू धर्म और बौद्ध धर्म संस्कृत में लिखे में लिखे हुए हैं. संस्कृत भाषा बहुत कठिन है लेकिन जब आप हिन्दी की लिपि और व्याकरण सीख जाएँगे तब आप संस्कृत भी सीख सकते है कियीयू संस्कृत और हिन्दी की लिपि, देवनागरी लिपि, एक ही है. हिन्दी खुद संस्कृत से उद्पत हुई है और हिन्दी में बहुत सारे शब्द संस्कृत से है. संस्कृत इंडो – युरोपियन भाषा समहू में एक बहुत प्राचीन भाषा है।

आज भारत बहुत तेज़ी से प्रगती कर रहा है और आने वाले समय में यह दुनिया को आर्थिक, सांस्कृतिक या अन्य तरीके से निश्चित तोर पर प्रभावित करेगा. भारत के आधिकांश नागरिक की भाषा हिन्दी हैं. यह कहना सही ही होगा ही आगे हिन्दी दुनिया भर के संपर्क में आधिक आएगी. भविष्य के लिए हिन्दी सीखना एक अद्भुत अनुभव हो सकता है।
