Hoje nosso post vai ser sobre como usar as expressões any longer e no longer. Basicamente, elas querem dizer “não mais” e são usadas da seguinte maneira:
01. Usamos any longer quando a frase contiver um verbo na forma negativa.
She promised not to do that any longer. – Ela prometeu não mais fazer aquilo.
I don’t work there any longer. – Eu não trabalho mais lá.
You can’t say that any longer. – Você não pode mais dizer isso.
She couldn’t take care of her kids any longer. – Ela não conseguia mais cuidar dos seus filhos.
I can’t wait any longer. – Não posso mais esperar.
02. Usamos no longer quando a frase não contiver verbo na negativa.
We are no longer studying French. – Não estamos mais estudando francês.
He is no longer considered a good role model. – Ele não é mais considerado um bom modelo.
I could no longer remember what had happened. – Eu não conseguia mais lembrar o que tinha acontecido.
She no longer needed us. – Ela não precisava mais de nós.
They are no longer working at the hospital. – Eles não estão mais trabalhando no hospital.
Podemos substituir as expressões any longer e no longer por any more e no more.
