1. sad about – triste com

He’s really sad about his girlfriend leaving him. – Ele está muito triste porque sua namorada o deixou.
What are you so sad about? – Com o quê você está tão triste?

2. safe from – seguro de, livre de

It’s hard to make airports safe from terrorist attacks. – É difícil tornar os aeroportos seguros de ataques terroristas.
When Bob was a toddler, nobody was safe from his bites. – Quando Bob era bebê, ninguém estava livre das suas mordidas.

3. satisfied with – satisfeito com

Are you satisfied with the new arrangement? – Você está satisfeito com o novo acordo?
I’m not satisfied at all with how things are going. – Não estou satisfeito mesmo com o jeito que as coisas estão indo.

4. sick of – cansado de, “cheio” de

I’m sick of all this talk about politics. – Estou cansado desse papo de política.
She was sick of being mistreated by her husband. – Ela estava cansada de ser maltratada por seu marido.

5. (be) sorry for/about – sentir muito por/com

I’m very sorry about all the trouble I’ve caused her. – Sinto muitíssimo pelo problema que causei a ela.
I’m sorry for not coming to the party last night. – Sinto muito por não ter vindo à festa ontem à noite.

6. surprised at/about/by – surpreso com

The teacher was surprised at how that student was talking to her. – A professora estava surpreso com a maneira que aquele aluno estava falando com ela.
I knew that was going to happen, so why would I even be surprised about it? – Eu sabia que isso ia acontecer, então por que eu me surpreenderia com isso?

7. terrible at – terrível em

I was just terrible at math in high school. – Eu era simplesmente terrível em matemática no ensino médio.
She’s terrible at making excuses. – Ela é terrível em inventar desculpas.

8. tired of – cansado de

I’m tired of listening to you whine every day about the same thing. – Estou cansado de te escutar reclamar todos os dias sobre a mesma coisa.
Don’t you get tired of doing the same thing over and over again? – Você não se cansa de fazer a mesma coisa sempre?

9. used to – acostumado com

You’ll get used to that eventually. – Você acaba se acostumando com isso.
Have you gotten used to his American accent yet? – Você já se acostumou com o sotaque americano dele?

10. worried about – preocupado com

What are you so worried about? – Com o que você está tão preocupado?
She’s really worried about her grades. – Ela está muito preocupada com suas notas.
