I love exploring youtube in search of inspirational musicians, and every now and then I find one that I can’t believe I’ve never heard of before. Just a few days ago, for example, I noticed a video entitled Lara Fabian – Adagio. Okay, let’s have a listen and see what she’s like … mamma mia, che voce!
Lara Fabian was born in Brussels, Belgium, her father is Flemish and her mother Sicilian. She spent the first five years of her life in her mother’s home town of Catania, Sicily, before moving to Ruisbroek near Brussels. Italian was Lara’s first language, but she is also fluent in French and English and sings in several other languages. Here’s a video of her singing Adagio, live in Florence. The song is based on the Adagio in G Minor by Albinoni.

Lara also sings a version in English, but the lyrics, which you can find here, have been changed in order to rhyme and fit better with the music. I’m so glad that I chanced upon Lara Fabian, now I have yet another beautiful voice added to my list of favourites!

Grazie mille per l’introduzione a questa cantante, Lara Fabian – veramente una bella voce. Mi sembra che ci fosse qualcuno di cui cantava questa canzone nel 1960’s in Italia. Pensavo forse Mina ma credo di no. Per me e’ stata sempre una bella canzone e mi piace anche sentire Albinoni e il Concerto per l’Oboe.
(scusi per l’italiano un po’ brutto!!)
