Annalisa Posted by Geoff on Oct 9, 2012 in Uncategorized
Regular readers of our blog will probably have realised that I have una predilezione per le cantanti Italiane (a predilection for Italian female singers). Here’s a great singer that I discovered recently: Annalisa Scarrone, better known simply as Annalisa.
Annalisa, who was born in Savona, Liguria, in 1985, became well known last year following her participation in Amici di Maria De Filippi. From the age of 6 she sung in choirs and a few years later began studying classical guitar. At the age of 13 she began studying musical and vocal technique, pianoforte, and flute. And as if that wasn’t enough, whilst studying music she also graduated from the University of Torino with a degree in physics!
I love Annalisa’s very straightforward way of delivering catchy and often haunting melodies. Her voice has a wonderful tone, very pure and simple, but powerful at the same time. Well, instead of me blathering on about her, have a listen and see what you think for yourselves. Here’s one of my favourite tracks from her first album, Nali:

The moon that watches mehas a far away face
that mysteriously peers at everything going slowly and passes amongst the roofs and knocks knocks at the windows searching for a star but the stars are all in the sky while you brush against me slowly Shivers shivers while you brush against me so secretly so violently … slowly Shivers shivers while you fall in love with my insecurities with my bullying. It should have only been a game I didn’t want to think about you afterwards. The moon that waits for me for a whole day it’s the day of second thoughts that tell me to go slowly and I pass amongst the houses I loose myself amongst the people in search of a star but the stars are in the sky while you brush against me slowly Shivers shivers while you brush against me so secretly so violently … slowly Shivers shivers while you fall in love with my insecurities with my bullying. It should have only been a game I didn’t want to think about you afterwards. Shivers shivers while you brush against me Shivers shivers while you fall in love with my insecurities with my bullying. so secretly The moon that watches me a far away face that mysteriously peers at everything going |

Chris:
Thanks for this post: it has turned out to be one of the most motivating and useful tips I’ve had in my Italian learning. I bought both her albums after reading this post (and love both of them), but just finding out more about Annalisa and her music has got me reading Italian, listening to Italian and thinking Italian and just generally really motivated me to learn more than any other ‘study tip’ I’ve seen.
Geoff:
@Chris Salve Chris, thanks for the feedback. I’ll certainly be doing more blogs in the future based on Italian contemporary music. Did you see the one I wrote about Giorgia?
Eccolo qua: https://blogs.transparent.com/italian/non-marzo-ma-amo-questa-canzone/
Saluti da Geoff

No, but I’ll take a look, grazie!
