It’s all very well studying those grammar books but, as I’m sure you’ll know, having a conversation in Italian is another matter entirely. Here’s a blog in which Serena and myself have fun pretending that we’re out on our first date together, and we’re each trying to discover what the other likes to do in their free time.
Geoff: “… e i tuoi passatempi preferiti quali sono?”
“… and what are your favourite pastimes?”
Serena: “I miei passatempi preferiti? Beh, innanzitutto mi piace lavorare a maglia … lo trovo molto rilassante, quasi una meditazione, e creativo allo stesso tempo.
“my favourite pastimes? Well, most of all I like knitting … I find it really relaxing, almost like meditation, and creative at the same time”.
Geoff: “… sì, immagino, ma come fai, segui delle istruzioni da qualche rivista?”
“… yes, I can imagine, but how do you do it, do you follow instructions in a magazine?”
Serena:“… no, non copio mai completamente un modello, ma prendo varie idee e le adatto per creare qualcosa di personale.”
“no, I never completely copy a pattern, I pick up lots of ideas and adapt them to create something personal”
Geoff: “che ganzo!”(pensando fra sé e sé ‘mi piacerebbe davvero un bel maglione fatto a mano … vediamo un po’!), e a parte questo c’hai altri passatempi?’
“cool! (thinking to himself ‘I’d really like a nice hand knitted sweater … let’s see!’), and have you got any other pastimes?”
Serena: “certo, quando il tempo lo permette, mi piace andare a fare passeggiate … in montagna, nei boschi, lungo la costa …”
“of course, when the weather allows I like going for walks … in the mountains, in the woods, along the coast …”
Geoff: “ma davvero? questo mi piace anche a me!” (… questa sì che è una bella e brava ragazza!)
“really? I like doing that as well!” (… she really is a pretty and clever girl!)
Serena: “E tu invece? Cosa ti piace fare nel tuo tempo libero?”
“and how about you? what do you like to do in your free time?”
Geoff: “hmmm … ho sempre avuto tantissimi passatempi, anche troppi! Suono la chitarra da sempre, comunque, già da un paio di anni non suono più così spesso come una volta”
“hmmm … I’ve always had loads of pastimes, too many perhaps! I’ve always played the guitar, however, for a couple of years now I don’t play as often as I used to”
Serena: “e adesso cosa fai?”
“so what do you do now?”
Geoff: (pensando fra sé e sé, ‘in realtà non faccio un cavolo, ma questo non glielo posso dire …’) “ehm, sai che cos’è il softair?”
(thinking to himself, ‘actually I do bugger all, but I can’t tell her that …’) “umm, do you know what airsoft is?”
Serena: “no, non ne ho la più pallida idea! che cos’è?”
“no, I haven’t got the foggiest idea! what is it?”
Geoff: “ecco, il softair è una specie di guerra simulata in cui spari ai tuoi amici con una replica di fucile d’assalto, e …” (hmmm, insomma … forse era troppo presto per svelare questa mia strana passione, speriamo bene …).
“well, airsoft is a kind of simulated war in which you shoot your friends with a replica assault rifle, and …” (hmmm, with hindsight … perhaps it was a bit early to reveal this strange passion of mine, let’s hope for the best …).
Serena: “sparare agli amici? Caspita! questa sì che è una bella idea!”
“shoot at your friends? Wow! that’s really a great idea!”
Geoff: “Sere, siamo fatti l’uno per l’altra, ci sposiamo subito?”
“Sere, we’re made for each other, shall we get married immediately?”

… 50 anni dopo … ho vinto IO!!! 50 years later … I won!!! |

Anche a me piacciono molto i dialoghi perché sono vivaci e autentici. Tolgo la parte inglese però per i miei corsisti olandesi. In Olanda hanno raramente la possibilità di ascoltare delle conversazioni italiane ‘dal vivo’. Uso questi vostri brani non solo per leggere ma anche per parlare in coppie esercitando la pronuncia (il dialogo funziona meglio in questo esercizio). Grazie!

trovo questo blog molto interessante. Mi piacciono le lezioni di grammatica di piu` e l’uso delle espressioni idiomatiche. Sono uno studente d’italiano e mi piacerebbe se continuaste a comporre questo tipo di articolo. Spero di seguirvi a lungo, non smettete di “postare”!
