When you get to meet someone whom you waited so long to see…

 

The other day, I met my friend whom I had not seen for the last 4 years. She is one of my special friends in my life, and not only just her, but her boys are also such a  sweet boys whom I missed all these times.  I was so happy to see my friend and her boys. Here are the 8 most popular joyful expressions (in my opinion) for a situation like this.

 

 

1.Long time no see – Hisashiburidane (久しぶりだね、ひさしぶりだね）

Polite way of saying this ==> Ohisashi buridesu. (お久しぶりです。おひさしぶりです。）

 

2.I missed you!  – Zutto Aitakattayo. (ずっと　会いた　かったよ。ずっと　あいた　かったよ。）

Polite way of saying this ==> Zutto aoi shitakatta desu. (ずっと　お会い　したかった　です。ずっと　おあい　したかった　です。)

 

3. How have you been? – Do shiteta? (どうしてた？)

Polite way of saying this ==> Do nasatte mashitaka ? (どう　なさって　ましたか？)

 

4.I am so glad to see you again! – Mata aete tottemo ureshi yo (また　会えて　とっても　嬉しいよ！　また　あえて　とっても　うれしいよ。)

Polite way of saying this ==> Mata oai dekite totemo ureshii desu. (また　お会い　できて　とっても　嬉しい　です。また　おあい　できて　とっても　うれしい　です。)

 

5. So happy to have you guys here. – Koko ni kitekurete tottemo ureshi yo. (ここに　来てくれて　とっても　嬉しいよ。ここに　きてくれて　とっても　うれしいよ。)

Polite way of saying this ==> Koko ni kitekudasatte tottemo ureshii desu. (ここに　来てくださって　とっても　うれしいです。ここに　きてくださって　とっても　うれしいです。)

 

6. It’s been so long since I met you guys. – Saigo ni attekara zuibun tatteruyo. (最後に　会ってから、随分　経ってるよ。　さいごに　あってから　ずいぶん　たってるよ。)

Polite way of saying this ==> Saigo ni oaishita toki kara zuibun tattemasu. (最後に　お会いしてから　随分　経ってます。さいごに　おあい　してから　ずいぶん　たってます。）

 

7. So glad to be able to spend some time together. – (一緒に　過ごせて　とても　嬉しいよ。いっしょに　すごせて　とっても　うれしいよ。)

Polite way of saying this ==> Isshoni sugosasete itadakete tottemo ureshii desu. (一緒に　過ごさせて　頂けて　とっても　嬉しい　です。いっしょに　すごさせて　いただけて　とっても　うれしい　です。)

 

8. I hope you lived much closer. – Anata ga motto chikakuni sundetara yokatta noni (あなたが　もっと　近くに　住んでたら　よかったのに。あなたが　もっと　ちかくに　すんでたら　よかったのに)

Polite way of saying this ==> Anata ga motto chikakuni sunde irasshatara yokatta desu. (あなたが　もっと　近くに　住んで　いらっしゃったら　よかった　です。あなたが　もっと　ちかくに　すんで　いらっしゃったら　よかった　です。)

 

In any expression, there are always politer way of saying things.  So, use them appropriately for your own situation!
