Why me expression~in Japanese.

 

 

Happy Halloween everyone! It’s already the end of October. I can’t believe how fast the time is going by this year. Before you know it, this year will be almost over. Hope everyone is enjoying Halloween today!

Today’s topic is all about, “why me?”  When someone blames you for something you didn’t do, how would you say that it was not you in Japanese?  You can learn the most 5 common Japanese “why me?” expressions below. Enjoy~.

 

1)

なんで 僕?(なんで ぼく?, Nande boku?)- Why me?

This is probably the most common way of saying, “why me?” in Japanese. The part “僕(ぼく)”changes based on who you are. You can use expressions listed below.

僕(ぼく)boku==>is used mainly by boys in younger age.

私 (わたし)watashi==>is used by girls and women.

俺 (おれ)ore==> is mainly used by older boys, and men.

So, if I was to say this, I would be saying,

なんで 私?(なんで わたし?, Nande boku?)- Why me?

 

 

2)

僕なの?(ぼくなの?Boku nano?)-me?

This is much simpler version, but again you can use the ones that fits you the most below.

私なの?(わたしなの ?)==>watashi nano?

俺なの ? (おれなの ?)==>ore nano?

 

 

3)

僕 やってないよ!(ぼく やってないよ!Boku yatte naiyo!)-I  didn’t do it!

私 やってないよ!(わたし やってないよ!Watashi yatte naiyo!)-I  didn’t do it!

俺 やってないよ!(おれ やってないよ!Ore yatte naiyo!)-I  didn’t do it!

 

4)

僕 じゃない!(ぼく じゃない!Boku ja nai!)-That was not me!

私 じゃない!(わたし じゃない!Watashi ja nai!)-That was not me!

俺 じゃない!(おれ じゃない!Ore  ja nai!)-That was not me!

 

5)

なんで 僕が やったことに なってるの?!(なんで ぼくが やったことに なってるの?!Nande boku ga yatta koto ni natteruno?!)-Why do  you think it was me?!

なんで 私が やったことに なってるの?!(なんで わたしが やったことに なってるの?!Nande boku ga yatta koto ni natteruno?!)-Why do  you think it was me?!

なんで 俺が やったことに なってるの?!(なんで おれが やったことに なってるの?!Nande boku ga yatta koto ni natteruno?!)-Why do  you think it was me?!

 

so, next time when someone blames you on something you truly did not do, here are some of the expressions you can use!
