How to order ice cream in Polish? Posted by on Jul 6, 2018 in Phrases

Summer is here and what’s better way to cool off if not having some delicious ice cream? We all know that ice cream is one of the most important meals of the day during the summer, right? If you aren’t having it once, you’re having it twice, and sometimes even three times!!!

As you walk through the streets of most cities in Poland during the summertime, you may start to wonder if ice cream is some kind of Polish specialty because it seems like there’s an ice cream shop around every corner.  This frozen treat is so common that lody (ice cream in Polish) is possibly the first word you’ll learn after you arrive in Poland during summer months!

So how do you order ice cream in Polish?

lody – ice cream

wafel – cone

Ice cream is a source of energy! It is rich in carbohydrate, with about 15 grams in a one-half-cup serving. A serving also contains about 7 grams of fat and 2 grams of protein, making it an energy-dense food.

Ice cream is also a dietary source of two important minerals. It is particularly rich in calcium and phosphorus, with about 10 percent of the adult recommended dietary allowance, or RDA, of these minerals in a single, one-half-cup serving. Both calcium and phosphorus promote strong, healthy bones.

So…let’s enjoy this sweet treat any time we can!
