Koniec lata – end of the summer Posted by on Aug 31, 2015 in Nature

Summer went by so fast…And now it’s back to school time. I still enjoy beautiful weather here in New Hampshire and will still take couple of nice trips to the ocean..

Today I found a beautiful Polish poem about end of the summer (although I was not able to find the name of the author):

Koniec lata

End of the summer

To lato, o którym każdy cicho marzył,
Szybko przeminęło, zgodnie z kalendarzem.
Długo swoim żarem wszystkich rozgrzewało,
Kąpieli słonecznych każdy wciąż ma mało.

This summer, about which everyone silently dreamed of,
Quickly passed, according to the calendar.
For a long time warmed everyone.
Everyone still has not enough sunbathing.

Jesień, która przyszła w pełnym blasku słońca,
Nigdy nie zastąpi letnich dni do końca.
Nie ubrała jeszcze nieba w ciemne chmury,
Jeno drzewa stroi w złota i purpury.

Autumn, which came in the full glare of the sun,
Never replace summer days to the end.
Not even the sky dressed in dark clouds,
Only trees are dressed in gold and purple.

Nić babiego lata pająk znowuż przędzie,
Wietrzyk ją przenosi i rozwiesza wszędzie.
Na tych niciach rosa osiada kroplami,
By w promieniach słońca zalśnić brylantami.

The thread of gossamer spider spins again,
The breeze carries it and hangs everywhere.
In these strands drops of dew settle,
To soak up the sun like bright diamonds.

I choć nową szatę przyroda przywdziewa,
Na jej cześć już prawie żaden ptak nie śpiewa.
Dnie są coraz krótsze, a wieczory zimne,
Księżyc nie podgląda, już schadzek intymnych.

And although a new robe nature puts on,
In her honor almost no bird sings.
The days are getting shorter and the nights colder.
Moon is not watching intimate trysts any more.

Smutno jest na polach, co tak pustką świecą,
Ptaki się zlatują, bo wkrótce odlecą.
Trzeba się pogodzić z tą koleją rzeczy,
Bo lepszej nam teraz nikt nie zabezpieczy.

Fields are sad and empty,
Birds fly together, because soon they will fl away.
You have to be reconciled with the course of things,
Because it will not get any better
