Mother’s Day in Poland is celebrated on May 26th! Posted by Kasia on May 25, 2017 in Phrases
We already celebrated Mother’s Day (Dzień Matki) here in USA (which by the way was amazing – my girls and my husband filled my day with surprises, sweet thoughts, lots of hugs and kisses), but Mother’s Day in Poland is celebrated tomorrow, on May 26th!
But what ever may be the date of Mother’s Day around the world, the spirit is the same everywhere. Everywhere in the world mothers are respected for their extreme devotion towards their kids. And on Mother’s Day children pay their humblest tribute to their mothers and thank them for giving them birth and providing them with the best of care and upbringing.
This wonderful day Poles celebrate in a similar way as every other country in the world. Flowers (kwiaty), gifts (prezenty), hand made cards (laurki), sweets (słodycze)! My personal favorite is of course spending the whole day with my kids and to be able to hear from them that Mother’s Day is every day:)
Mother’s Day is not a national public holiday in Poland, however I remember schools celebrating this special day with kids preparing special plays and inviting mothers to watch it. I’m not sure if nowadays schools continue this tradition, but I think they still do:)
