What a sweet mess on a Polish road! Posted by on Aug 26, 2018 in Current News

We all know that Poland is famous for it’s amazing chocolate (czekolada)! They make it, they love it, they enjoy it!

But nobody expected this to happen…Couple months ago a truck full of liquid chocolate has overturned on a motorway in Poland, spilling 12 tons of the sweet stuff all over the road! Thankfully, nobody was badly physically hurt — the driver of the truck only had a broken arm — but chocolate lovers around the world have had their hearts broken upon seeing the waste of so much good stuff. That said, nobody has taken advantage of the potential chocolate slip n’ slide opportunities, or volunteered to lick the highway clean:)

It is not clear as what caused the tanker truck to overturn and fall onto its side across the median. By the time cleanup crews had arrived the liquid had begun to solidify, making the operation more difficult, local police said. The cooling chocolate is worse than snow. In the initial moments after the accident there were some who drove their vehicles through the sticky liquid, spreading it for several kilometres along the road…Now, can you imagine that? It took hours to clean the mess and fire brigades were using streams of hot water to remelt the chocolate in order to wash it away.

One of the reporters at the scene was walking along the edge of the shoulder to avoid the chocolate only to slip and fall into a ditch, where there was, indeed, more chocolate!

On the bright note, police officers in Poland said that it’s been a long time since they’ve seen so many smiles on the faces of emergency rescue folks and police officers at the scene of an accident!:)
