Olá, pessoal! Tudo bem?

Palmirinha Onofre is this cute-as-a-button lady in her 80’s who’s a celebrity in Brazil. She is a professional cook and has had several TV programs on Brazilian TV.

Her latest program is on Bem Simples TV channel (only on cable) and she totally reminds us of our moms and grandmoms because she is simply awesome!

She has a sidekick, Boneco Guinho, who helps her keep the program light and fun for the whole family.

Today I’m going to share a recipe of Lombo com Molho de Cerveja (Loin in beer sauce).

Here’s the recipe:

Lombo e Tempero [Loin and Seasoning]

  • 1 lombo de 2kg [loin]
  • 1 copo de suco de laranja [orange juice]
  • 4 dentes de alho [garlic cloves]
  • 1 cebola ralada [grated onion]
  • 1 ramo de alecrim [bunch of rosemary]
  • 1 folha de louro [bay leaf]
  • sal e pimenta a gosto [salt and pepper to taste]

Molho [Sauce]

  • 1 lata de cerveja [can of beer]
  • 1 caixa de creme de leite
  • 2 colheres de açúcar mascavo [brown sugar]
  • manteiga ou azeite [butter or olive oil]
  • 1 colher de sopa de mostarda [mustard]
  • sal e pimenta à gosto [salt and pepper to taste]

Useful Words and Expressions

  • temperar = to season
  • amarrar = to tie up
  • barbante = string
  • linha de fazer crochê = crochet string
  • amassado = crushed, mashed
  • papel alumínio = aluminum foil
  • forno = oven
  • molheira = gravy boat
