Hi! TGIF, right?
Let’s finish our September posts with something that happens to all us: problems at home! I’m talking about things like a toilet getting clogged up or your radiator is not working well.
Here are some useful sentences:
El fregadero (Spain) / La pileta (Argentina) de la cocina está tapado.
The kitchen sink is clogged.
El inodoro / váter está tapado.
The toilet is clogged.
No consigo funcionar / tirar la cadena.
I can’t flush the toilet.
El ascensor / el lavarropa está roto.
The elevator / washing machine is broken.
La canilla (Argentina) / El grifo (España) gotea mucho.
The faucet is dripping badly.
La canilla (Argentina) / El grifo (España) pierde.
The faucet is leaking.
Parece que algo le pasa al desagüe.
There’s something wrong with the drain.
El aire acondicionado / la calefación no funciona bien.
The air conditioning / the heating is not working well.
Hay una infiltración en el techo.
There’s a leak in the ceiling.
Tengo que destapar el fregadero / el váter.
I have to unclog the sink / the toilet.
Es mejor llamar a un fontanero (Spain) / plomero (Argentina).
We’d better call a plumber.
Tenemos que hacer pintar las paredes.
We need to have the walls painted.
Hay que arreglar el piso.
The floor needs to be fixed.
Parece que hay una pérdida de gas.
There seems to be a gas leak.
