In this Spanish lesson we are going to practice talking about The Farm in Spanish. First we will learn some relevant vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short audio conversation in Spanish. Transcript:

Steven: ¡Hola Paula! ¿Cómo estás? Te veo contenta.
Paula: Gracias Steven. Estoy muy bien. Compramos una granja a principios de este año y nunca he estado más feliz ni más sana.
Steven: ¿Dónde está la granja?
Paula: En las afueras de Madrid. Entre Madrid y Toledo. Está en un lugar muy hermoso. Solía ir allí a menudo cuando era niña.
Steven: ¿Tienes mucha tierra?
Paula: Bastante sí. Tenemos caballos, vacas, ovejas, cerdos y patos. Oh, y un burro.
Steven: ¿Tienes tractor?
Paula: Por supuesto. Tenemos dos. Colmenas de abejas y gallinas también. Tenemos huevos frescos todas las mañanas. Y miel.
Steven: ¿Y frutas y verduras?
Paula: No nos dedicamos a la venta de frutas y hortalizas, pero tenemos nuestro propio terreno para cultivar nuestras propias frutas y verduras.
Steven: Suena maravilloso. Me da envidia. Me encantaría cultivar mi propia comida.
Paula: No es fácil. Siempre perdemos muchas cosechas por diversas razones y nunca podemos relajarnos. Las cosechas nunca están garantizadas de ninguna manera.
Steven: Me imagino.
Paula: Los árboles frutales suelen ser muy consistentes. Pero el año pasado tuvimos muy poca fruta debido a las heladas tardías que destruyeron las flores.
Steven: ¿Ordeñas las vacas?
Paula: Ordeñamos las vacas en nuestra granja para obtener leche y también hacemos nuestra propia mantequilla. Pero, yo no ordeño las vacas. Hoy en día se ordeñan con máquinas.
Steven: Me encantaría estar cerca de animales, pero no podría matarlos.
Paula: Los enviamos a un matadero cuando les llega su hora.
Steven: Tampoco podría hacer eso.
Paula: Es parte de tener una granja como esta Steven.
