A – Buenas, ¿qué hay?
Hi, what’s up?

B – ¡Anda, qué sorpresa! No esperaba encontrarte aquí! Es lo que siempre digo: “Bicho malo nunca muere”.
Hey, what a surprise! I didn’t expect to meet you here! It’s what I always say: Bad eggs do not perish.

A – Es verdad, llevo estudiando aquí hace un año. ¿Y tú? ¿Qué curso vas a dar?
That’s true, I’ve been studying here for a year. What about you? What course are you going to teach?

A – ¡Hola, Felipe! ¡Cuánto tiempo sin verte!
Hi, Felipe! Long time no see!

B – ¡Graci, qué alegría! Mira, te presento a un amigo. Lo traigo para que conozca la escuela. Pedro, esta es Graciela.
Graci, how happy I am! Look, let me introduce you to a friend. I’ve brought him to see the school. Pedro, this is Graciela.

C – Mucho gusto. Hace tiempo que quería conocerte. He oído hablar muy bien de ti.
Nice to meet you. I’ve wanted to meet you for a long time. I’ve heard very good things about you.

A – ¿En serio? Pues… encantada de conocerte también.
Really? Well… nice to meet you too.

A – Don Andrés, ¿no se acuerda de mí? Soy Inés, la amiga de Hugo, su hijo mayor.
Don Andrés, don’t you remember me? I’m Inés, Hugo’s friend, your oldest son.

B – ¡Ah, sí, me parece que te conozco de los cursos del año pasado! ¿Qué tal, Inés?
Oh yes, I think I know you from the courses last year! How are you, Inés?

A – Pues, ya ve usted … voy tirando. ¿Dónde está Hugo?
Well, you see… getting by. Where’s Hugo?

B – Mira, está allí… no cabe en sí de alegría. Recién supo que le tocó la beca del curso intermedio de este año. Fíjate qué empollón es.
Look, he’s over there… he’s on cloud nine. He’s just found out he got a scholarship for the intermediate course. Look how studious he is.
