Free telenovela: Rosalinda Posted by Adir on Sep 5, 2012 in Uncategorized
I’m amazed by how Youtube keeps surprising me everyday, with videos of whole concerts and even whole movies.
I have always been a fan of Mexican soap operas for learning Spanish because their diction is very good and most of the time they speak at a very good speed for understanding. And during one of my “trips” to Youtube I came across this series of videos of the telenovela Rosalinda.
Rosalinda, starred by Mexican bombshell Thalía, was produced by Televisa in 1999 and broadcast on Canal de las Estrellas. It tells a story of this girl who sells flowers and decorates a restaurant. One day, she meets Fernando José, a man of high social status who plays the piano at the restaurant. They fall in love, get married, and have a child named Erika, but his stepmother Valeria desires to split the happy couple up, and she has the perfect way of doing so. (adapted from Wikipedia)
Below is the first part of the DVD ripped telenovela, with subtitles in English, in case you don’t understand everything, ok? I hope you like it because Thalía is very easy on the eyes too!

thanks a lot Adir, i’ve been looking for a telenovela for a while to help with getting spanish listening more natural and Rosalinda es perfecto! Gracias! I just saw your linking words blog too, u’re the man.
Resources like this that makes learning the language more natural is just what i need. I read the news online and listen to latin songs.
I practically taught myself Spanish with books, software etc., but Michel Thomas deserves enormous credit for my Spanish.
Thanks again Adir, and please keep them coming. Gracias!
Adir:
@staj Hey, Staj!
I’m glad you like it! I taught myself English and Spanish too so I know exactly what you mean. I read somewhere that you have your best inspirations during the three B’s: bed, bus, bath. I had this one during bed time, I’d just woken up and I’d seen that link for the complete Rosalinda DVD the night before so here it is.
Thanks for your visit and comment and we love to know what our readers want and think!

I watched the first 5 minutes of the embedded Rosalinda telenovela, and it was so violent I had to turn it off. Watching a woman be kidnapped is very upsetting. Is it always like this? I saw the other videos on YouTube, but I hesitate to watch them if this is the usual theme. It would be a good way to learn Spanish otherwise.
Adir Ferreira:
Hi, Vicki, you should watch the rest of it, though. More drama than violence.

Rosalinda is such an old telenovela. You should look into finding “new” telenovelas…but I would recommend that you guys look up the actual spelling of words that are said to actually get a feel for the meaning and pronunciation of the word on top of the correct way of spelling as well.
