Hello there!

Oftentimes when we are talking to someone we need to give and receive advice so this what our post is about today. You will learn several ready-made sentences so make sure to memorize them!

Here we go!

Dando un consejo – Giving advice

¿Por qué tú no…? – Why don’t you…?
Tal vez tú debieras… – Maybe you should…
Tal vez tú pudieras… – Maybe you could…
Es mejor ir a… – You’d better go to…
Tú podrías… – You could…
¿Sabes qué podrías hacer? – You know what might not be a bad idea…?
A lo mejor es una buena idea ir a… – Maybe it would be a good idea to go…
Yo que tú… – If I were you…
Creo que deberías… – I think you should…
Tal vez fuese interesante… – It might be a good idea…
Sabes que encuentro… – You know what I think…
Bueno, lo que hago es… – Well, what I do is…
Bueno, tengo un amigo que… – Well, I have a friend who…
Mi padre siempre dice… – My father always says…
Tú tienes que hacer lo que sea mejor para ti. – You have to do what’s best for you.
Solamente tú puedes decidir eso. – You have to decide for yourself.
Nadie puede decidir por ti. – No one can decide for you.

Recibiendo un Consejo – Receiving Advice

Tal vez tengas razón. – Maybe you’re right.
A lo mejor es interesante hacer eso. – That might be a good idea.
Buena idea. – Good idea.
Yo sé. – I know.
Yo no sé. – I don’t know.
No estoy muy seguro. – I’m not really sure…
Voy a pensarlo. – I’ll think about it.
Capaz que sí. – Yeah, maybe.
Vamos a ver. – Let’s see.
Yo me las arreglo. – I’ll figure something out.

Alertando – Warnings

Tú no deberías… – You shouldn’t…
Yo que tú, no… – If I were you, I wouldn’t…
Cuidado, piénsalo bien antes de tomar una actitud. – Be careful, think it over before making a decision.
Tal vez no sea una buena idea… – Maybe it’s not a good idea…
Tal vez no debieras… – Maybe you shouldn’t…
Créeme, no… – Trust me, don’t…
Acepta un consejo:… – A word of advice:…

Consejos tardíos – Advice when it’s too late

Qué lástima que no… – It’s too bad you didn’t…
Deverías haber… – You should have…
¿Por qué no fuiste…? – Why didn’t you go…?
Mirando hacia atrás, deberías haber… – Looking back, you should’ve…
La próxima vez, tienes que… – Next time you have to…
Si te pasa de nuevo… – Next time it happens…
¿Por qué no me lo dijiste? – Why didn’t you tell me?
Yo te lo dije. – I told you so.
