الفضاء الخارجي Outer Space in Arabic Posted by on Apr 19, 2022 in Arabic Exercises, Arabic Language, Science, Space, Vocabulary

Lately my son ابني has been obsessed with the planets الكواكب and anything to do with outer space الفضاء الخارجي. We have been exploring this topic in Arabic as well which gave me the idea to do the same with you in this post.🪐🌟☀️☄️🌌🌠

In this part one post, we’ll first learn the basic vocabulary needed to understand the topic of الفضاء in Arabic. We’ll also watch a clip that compares the sizes of both planets الكواكب and dwarf planets الكواكب القزمة and read  information about each planet, then answer the truth or false صح أو خطأ questions.

In part two, we’ll listen to a clip from Sky News Arabia سكاي نيوزعربية about space exploration استكشاف الفضاء.

To help us learn the vocabulary, let’s read the following paragraph about exploring space and look at the following images.

🪐Can you find the Arabic words that mean the following?

space, star, moon, spacecraft, astronauts, telescopes, planets, comets

🌌Watch the following clip comparing planets then answer the true/false questions below.

١• كوكب القزم سيريس أكبر من كوكب القزم بلوتو

٢• الأرض والقمر تقريباً نفس العمر

٣• حجم الكوكب عطارد ٤.٩٠٠ كلم

٤• كوكب المريخ أسخن كواكب المجموعة الشمسية

٥• كوكب نبتون أصغر من كوكب أورانوس

٦• كوكب الزحل خامس كوكب من الشمس

I hope you enjoyed this post about الفضاء. We’ll continue next week. Till then, happy Arabic learning! 😊

Translation:

Exploring space is very difficult because it contains no air and is so large that even the fastest spacecraft can only explore a tiny part of it. It takes 3 days of traveling to reach the Moon and, depending on speed, it would take a long time to reach the closest star.

Manned spacecraft are designed to keep good air inside them and to protect astronauts from extreme temperatures. We gain most of our information about planets and comets in space from different kinds of telescopes.

As an Arabic student in college, we focus a lot on talking about complex issues and gloss right over this kind of fun vocabulary in favor of talking about other important topics like قمع النفط so I really appreciate these little lists of fun vocab that expands my understanding!
