A Song for Aleppo Posted by aziza on Jan 9, 2017 in Arabic Language, Culture
Aleppo (حلب) has been the scene of a great deal of violence and battling in the last few years and particularly in the last few weeks.
This is a song by Faya Younan (فايا يونان ) who is originally from Aleppo, singing for her beautiful city.
Aleppo keeps for me daisies
And a cheek full of rubies and apples
Aleppo holds for me A palm that rains wonder
Aleppo keeps for me the gardens sun
A red butterfly A scent of lilies
A moon that pours down gold
Aleppo keeps for me
I loved her I loved her with loyalty
I sang her I sang her my pure honey
I loved her And love cannot be hidden
From the beloved ones and their witty heart
Aleppo keeps for me
A cheek full of rubies and apples Aleppo holds for me
