Ahlan Arabic fans! Today, September 3rd. 2014 marks the launch of the fifteenth Amman International Book Fair مــَــعــْــرَضْ عــَــمــَّــانْ الــدَوْلــِــي لــِــلــْــكــِــتــَــابْ which is held in the Physical Education College كــُــلــِّــيــَّــة الــتــَّــرْبــِــيــَــة الــرِّيــَــاضــِــيــَّــة building near Al-Hussein Youth City مــَــديــنــَـــة الــحــُــســَــيــْــن لــِــلــشــَّــبــَــابْ in Amman عــَــمــَّــانْ , Jordan الأرْدُن . The Book Fair events will continue till the 13th. of September.
Hassan Salih حــَــســَــنْ صــَــالــِــحْ ; Head رئــِــيــسْ of the Union of the Jordanian Publishers إتــِّــحــَــاد الــنــَّــاشــِــريــن الأرْدُنـِـــيــيــن and manager of this year’s Book Fair said that more than five hundred national, Arab and international publishing houses will be participating in cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Culture and under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Abdallah. Salih also stated that more than one hundred thousand book titles with more than a million printed copies will be available. He also stressed the philosophy of the festival and its support دَعــْـــمْ for reading الــقــِــرَاءة . The good news that Salih brought was that the festival will be held every year instead of every two years.
The Book Fair will be the cultural face of Amman for the coming days and will be a chance to shed some light on the works of most publishing houses and writers in all fields.
There will be so many guests ضــُــيــُـــوفْ from Jordan and other Arab countries. On the second day of the Fair, the Jordanian novelist and poet; Ayman Attoum أيــْــمــَــن عــَــتــُّــومْ and the Kuwaiti novelist; Saud Al-Sonousi ســُــعــُــودْ الــســُــنــْــعــُـــوســِــي will both run a symposium نــَــدْوَة entitled “Creators and Books مــُــبــْــدِعــُـــون و كــُــتــُـــبْ” . On the third day, the Palestinian journalist Abdel-Bari Atwan عــَــبــْــد الــبــَــاري عــَــطــْــوَانْ will be guest and will present a lecture on the implications of the last war on Gaza. On the seventh of September, the Algerian novelist Waseeni Al-A’raj وَاســِــيــنــِــي الأعــْـــرَجْ and the Palestinian novelist Ibrahim Nasr-Allah إبــْــراهــِـــيــم نــَــصــْــر الله will run a symposium under the heading of “Creative Testimonies شــَــهــَــادات إبــْــدَاعــِــيــَّــة“.
The Jordanian novelist Mo’nis Al-Razzaz مــُــؤنــِــسْ الــرَّزَّاز was chosen to be the key figure of the festival and there will be a symposium about his life run by the Jordanian storyteller Sameeha Khrees ســَــمــِــيــحــَــة خــْــريــس , the poet Abdallah Redwan عــَــبــْــد الله رِضــْــوَانْ and the author Hashim Gharabyah هــَــاشــِــمْ غــَــرَابــِــيـــة . The concluding session of the festival will be an open discussion of the life and works of Sameeh Al-Qasim ســَــمــِــيـــح الــقــَــاســِــمْ .
There will be other Jordanian and Arab guests and there will also be more entertainment تــَــرْفــِــيـــه events for children. Here is the Schedule جــَــدْوَلْ of all the cultural events.
