In this post, I present a listening comprehension exercise that deals with current affairs, more specifically the humanitarian situation in Syria. Please listen to the report and answer the questions that follow. You can use the vocabulary at the end of the post to facilitate your comprehension.

 

Answer the Following Questions:

1- What did Syrian activists say?

2- How many displaced persons are in Western Ghouta?

3- What is the condition of those who live in the western towns of Rif Dimashq?

4- Where do these people live?

5- Who else accused the Syrian regime of hampering the delivery of aid?

Useful vocabulary

ناشطون = activists

النظام = the regime

منع = prevented

منظمة الهلال الأحمر = the Red Crescent

مساعدات = aid

نازحين = displaced

تؤوي = accommodate

أفاد = reported

لجان التنسيق المحلية = Local Coordination Committees 

ظروف = conditions

مأساوية = tragic

يقطن = live

تفتقر إلى = lack

مقومات الحياة = basics of life

اتهام = accusation

عرقلة = hampering

أطراف دولية = international parties
