Bethlehem (بيت لحم) is holding a very special celebration this Christmas (عيد الميلاد). A 15 meters long Christmas tree (شجرة عيد الميلاد) is lit, and a special mass (قداس) is held.
Celebrating Christmas this year is very special at Bethlehem, as the Palestinians also celebrate the birth of their state after the UN has granted Palestine the status of a non-member observer STATE.
Moreover, the Church of Nativity (كنيسة المهد) has been placed on the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites.
