Lebanese Campaign: زرّيعة قلبي Zarreeʕit Alb-i (2) Posted by on Jun 5, 2020 in Arabic Language, Vocabulary

Last week, we started studying the lyrics of the theme song زرّيعة قلبي , plants of my heart – that is a part of a national initiative مبادرة وطنية in Lebanon to encourage people to grow their own vegetables. After studying at the first part of the song, we continue looking at the rest today. Enjoy!

بالبورة وعالبلكون

In the heath (uncultivated land) and on the balcony

 

تاكل وتطعمي كل الجيره منّا

You eat and feed all the neighbours from it 

 

والشتله تصفّي شجره

And the seedling becomes a tree

 

بيضة الدجاجه عشره

The hen’s egg is ten

 

كم عنزة بضهرون ما شاء الله

And a few goats with them, Mashallah

Tabboule

 

مجبوله

made

 

من إيدك يا خحوله

By your hands, you shy (lady)

 

المربى والمونه

The jam, and the pantry

 

بطاطا

potatoes

 

سلاطات

salads

 

ازرعها وتلّي هالمدى

Plant it and fill the space

 

حتى ما تعوز حدا

So that you don’t need anyone

 

قطّف وطعمي كلّه طازة اسم الله

Pick and feed, all is fresh, God bless

 

بالفواكه أو بالخضرة

With fruits or with vegetables

 

بنرجّع أرضي خضرا

We bring our land green

 

بركي هالضّيقة منحلّها

Maybe we sort this situation out

عالساحل أو بالضيعه

By the coast or in the village

 

2The phrase: بضهر البيعة is a ready phrase that means something like: “might as well, as a consequence of”بنزرعها بضهر البيعه

We plant it as well 

 

بنستثمر فيها ونتسلّى

We invest in it and have fun

 

اقتصادك بيعاني

Your economy is suffering

 

ما عندك حلّ تاني

You don’t have another solution/choice

 

شمّر ع زنودك ويلّلا

Roll up your sleeves and come on
