أهــَــمــِــيــَّــة مــَــهــْــرَجــَــان الــقــَــاهــِــرَة الــســِــيــنــمــَــائــِــي هــِــىَ أنــَّــهُ أوَّلُ مــَــهــْــرَجــَــانٍ دَوْلــِــىِّ لــِــلــســيــنــمــَــا يــُــعــْــقــَــدُ فــِــي الــعــَــالــَــمِ الــعــَــرَبــِــىّ .       

1) The importance of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) is because it is the first international film festival that is held in the Arab World.

تــَــأســَّـــسَ مــَــهــْــرَجــَــانُ الــقــَــاهــِــرَةِ الــســِــيــنــمــَــائــِــىّ فــِــي الــســَّــادِسِ عــَــشــَــرْ مــِــنْ أغــُــســْــطــُــس عــَــامِ 1976   

2) The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) was founded on the 16^th of August, 1976.

اِســْــم الــجــِــهــَــة الــتــِّــي أســَّــســَــتْ الــمــَــهــْــرَجــَــان هــِــىَ الــجــَــمــْــعــِــيــَّــةِ الــمــِــصــْــريــَّــةِ لــِــلــكــُــتـــَّــابِ و الــنــُّــقـــَّــادِ الــســِــيــنــمــَــائــِــيــيــن .  

3) The name of the organization that founded the festival is the Egyptian Association of Film Writers and Critics.

أوَّلُ رَئــيــسٍ لــِــلــمــَــهــْــرَجــَــان كــَــانَ الــكــَــاتــِــبُ و الــنــَّــاقــِــدُ كــَــمــَــال الــمــَـــلاخ الــذِّي نــَــجــَــحَ فــِــي إدارَتــِــهِ لــِــمــُــدَّةِ ســَــبــْــعِ ســنــيــنِ مــُــتــَــتـــَــالــِــيــَّـــةِ حــَــتــَّــى عــَــام 1983   

4) The first head of the festival was the writer-critic Kamal Al-Mallakh who succeeded in managing it for seven successive years till 1983.

فــِــي عــَـــام 1985 تــَــشــَــكــَّــلــَــتْ لــَــجــْــنــَــةٌ مــِــنْ وَزَارةِ الــثــَّــقــَــافـــَــةِ لــِــلإشــْــرَافِ عــَــلــى الــمــَــهــْــرَجــَـــانِ  

5) In 1985 a Ministry of Culture Committee was formed to supervise the festival.

الــذِّي تــَـــوَلــَّــى رِئــَـــاســَـــة الــمــَــهــْــرَجــَـــان بــَــعــْــدَ عــَــام 1985 هــُــوَ الأدِيـــب ســَـــعــْــد الــدِّيــن وَهــْــبــَــة  

6) The Scholar Saad Al-Din Wahba headed the festival after 1985.

رُؤَســَـــاء الــمــَــهــْــرَجــَــانْ مــُــنــْــذُ عــَــام 1998 و حــَــتــَّــى الآن هــُــم : الــفــَــنــَّــان و الــمــُــمــَــثــِّــل حــُــســَــيــْــن فــَــهــْــمــِــي (1998) ، ثــُــمَّ شــِــريــف الــشــُّـــوبــَــاشــِــي ، ثــُــمَّ الــمــُــمــَــثــِّــل عــِــزَّتْ أبــُــو عــُــوف ، ثــُــمَّ الــنــَّــاقــِــد ســَــمــِــيــر فــَــريــد (2014)    

7) The festival heads from 1998 up till now are: the actor Hussein Fahmy (1998) and then Sherif El-Shobashy, then the actor Ezzat Abu Ouf, and then the critic Samir Farid (2014)

يــُــقــَــدِّمُ الــمــَــهــْــرَجــَـــانُ الــســَــنــَــوىُّ الــعــَــدِيـــدَ مــِــنَ الــجــَــوَائــِـــز مــِــثـــْــلَ : جــَــائــِــزة الــهــَــرَم الــذَّهــَــبــِــيّ لأفــْــضــَــلْ فــِــيــلــْــم ، و جــَــائــِـــزة الــهــَــرَم الــفــِــضــِّــيّ لــِــلــَــجــْــنــَــةِ الــتــَّــحــْــكــِــيــم ، وَ جــَــائــِــزة أفــْــضــَــل مــُــمــَــثــِّــل ، و جــَــائــِــزة أفــْــضــَــل مــُــمــَــثــِّــلــَــة ، و جــَــائــِــزة أفــْــضــَــل مــُــخــْــرِج ، و جــَــائــِــزة أفــْــضــَــل ســِــيــنــاريــُـــو ، و جــَــائــِــزة نــجــِــيــبْ مــَــحــْــفــُــوظ لأفــْــضــَــل عــَــمــَــل أوَّل و ثــَــانٍ

8) The festival presents many awards that include: The Gold Pyramid Award given to the best film, the Silver Pyramid Award given to the Committee of Arbitration, The Best Actor Award, The Best Actress Award, The Best Director Award, The Best Scenario Award and The Naguib Mahfouz Award given to the best first and second works.

أســْــمــَــاءَ بــَــعــْــضِ نــُــجــُــومِ الــســِــيــنــمــَــا الــذِّيــنَ كــَــرَّمــَــهــُــم الــمــَــهــْــرَجــَــانُ : كــَــاثــْــريــن دِيــنــوف ، و صــُــوفــيــا لــُــوريــن ، و إلــيــزابــيــث تــايــلــور ، ألان ديــلــون ، و نــيــكــُــولاس كــِــيــج ، و مــُـورجــَــان فــريــمــان ، و عــُــمــَــر الــشــَّــريــف ، و الــمــُــخــْــرج الــســُّــوري مــُــصــْــطــَــفــى الــعــَــقــَّـــاد  

9) Some of the cinema stars who were awarded and honored by the festival include: Catherine Deneuve, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Alain Delon, Nicolas Cage, Morgan Freeman, Omar Al-Sherif and the Syrian director Mustafa Al-Aqqad.
