منظمة الصحة العالمية تدق ناقوس الخطر و تؤكد أن تفشي وباءإيبولا في غينيا وليبيريا يشكل واحدا من أصعب التحديات التي تواجه المنظمة حتى الآن. إعلان المنظمة يأتي على إثر الإنتشار السريع للوباء في دول غرب إفريقيا ما أدى إلى مقتل العشرات.
نائب المدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية ، كيجي فوكودا قال:” هو واحد من الأوبئة الأكثر صعوبة والتي لم يسبق لنا وأن واجهناها. والأسباب التي تجعله صعبا للغاية هو أننا نشهد توسعا جغرافيا للإصابات بهذا الداء”.
وفيما تتواصل الحملات التحسيسية في محاولة للسيطرة على انتشار الفيروس، أكد ميشال فان هارب، من منظمة أطباء بلاحدود:” إننا نواجه السلالة الأشد فتكا لفيروس إيبولا وهي سلالة “زائير“، سلالة تقتل 9 اشخاص من أصل 10 “
الفيروس الذي تم تشخيصه قبل أربعين عاما لم ينجح الطب الحديث في إيجاد دواء له حتى الآن لاسيما و عدواه تنتقل من شخص لآخر بسرعة كبيرة ( عن طريق الإتصال الداخلي أو الخارجي(.
