We’re continuing our journey through the aisles of your local Chinese market here to help you with your grocery shopping needs. Last time, we learned a lot of useful vocabulary about vegetables – here’s that post in case you missed it. That’s one important part of a balanced diet, but we can’t forget about fruit (水果 – shuǐ guǒ).

Here are the Chinese names for 20 different types of fruit. Learn these and the vegetables, and you’ll be well on your way to doing all of your shopping in Chinese!

Practice using these words when you go shopping, and use them to try and answer these discussion questions!

  • Do you like to eat fruit?

    你喜欢吃水果吗?(nǐ xǐ huan chī shuǐ guǒ ma)

  • When you go to the supermarket, what fruit do you buy?

    去超市的时候,你买什么水果? (qù chāo shì de shí hou, nǐ mǎi shén me shuǐ guǒ)
