There is just over a week to go before Sinterklaas will arrive in the Netherlands much to the delight of children across the country. This year Sinterklaas will officially arrive on November 12th in the city of Dordrecht. His arrival will even be broadcast live on Dutch national television, so no need to fear if you can’t make it to Dordrecht that day.
There will be a lot of cheering, throwing of sweets and cookies (protect those eyes!) and general happiness throughout the streets of the city. There may even be some singing. Yes, the event of Sinterklaas comes with its own special array of Sinterklaas songs, known in Dutch as Sinterklaasliedjes.
There are many different popular songs but so that you can join in with at least one of the Sinterklaasliedjes, here are the words to De Zak van Sinterklaas (The sack of Sinterklaas). You can hear the song in the video.

In case you had any doubt, the song is about the sack that Sinterklaas brings along with him. However, a popular online store, Bol.com, decided to take a little artistic license with the lyrics, as you will see in the following advert (the very last part).
