Here’s a shortcut for asking the time! Normally, one would ask, “Kioma horo estas?” If you’re really in a hurry, though, you can eliminate half of the syllables in the expression, and ask “Kiomas?”

You might not receive an answer, since I don’t imagine the majority of Esperantists would regularly use the expression. If that is the case, then you might spend more time trying to explain what you mean! Even so, provu gxin. Kun apliko, la vorto povus igxi komprenita!

    – “Kioma horo?”
    – “Kioma estas?”

    It seems that way, jakopo. Think of it like the verb “pluvi,” to rain. We only use a third-person conjugation, since saying “we rain” would be absurd. I would think “kiomi” falls under the same category.

    But it wouldn’t agree with logic.
    If kiom has a quantity meaning, and kioma (kiom + a) keeps only the quantity meaning, why kiomi (kiom+i) should also encapsulate the meaning of horo?
    For me, i would agree with Francesco, and say: “Kioma?” . The rest of the sentence is omitted, but everyone understands:
    “Kioma [horo estas]?”

    Also, if you search in google “Esperanto vocabulary bloated” you will understand why esperantists shouldn’t invent too much words …

    Demandoj en Esperanto devas havi demandvorton!

    Demandvortoj:
    1. ki- (am, as, e, el…)
    2. ĉu (se demando estas jes/ne)

    Estas eble preterlasi ion en frazo, sed fari kompletajn demandojn(*) kun sole verbo ne estas eble.
    Bonvolu kompreni, ke neniu povas vekiĝi matenon kaj simple decidi ŝangi la gramatikon de Esperanto.

    (Pingvino, ĉu cia bildo estas la “Vivo” de Conway?)

    (*) demando, kies nenio estas preterlasita
