French Trivia: DuckTales in French is Called “La Bande à Picsou” Posted by on Aug 18, 2012 in Music, Vocabulary

Did you know that “DuckTales” in French is called “La Bande à Picsou“?

Most of the names in this Disney cartoon are different in the French version. For example:

Oncle Picsou (literally “Coin pincher”, or “money grabber”) = Scrooge McDuck;

Canardville = Duckburg;

The trio: Fifi, Riri, Louou = Huey, Duey, and Louie Duck, a.k.a. “Les Castors Juniors” (“The Junior Woodchucks.”)

The intro song was performed by the late Jean-Claude Corbel, famous for interpreting many French cartoon themes, including Olive et Tom.
