La Plume Française (The French Quill Pen) Posted by on Apr 11, 2013 in Music, Vocabulary

Unlike what their name may suggest to some at first, the French group “Louise Attack” is no Heavy Metal band à-la-Rammstein.

In fact, their songs are for the most part relaxées (chill) and rather mellow.

One of such songs is “la Plume“, meaning “The Quill Pen“, which we feature today, together with an exclusive translation of its lyrics from le français into English!

La Plume” (“The Quill Pen”) – Louise Attaque

I give you the quill pen so that you draw

The most beautiful city you have known

The most beautiful hymn you ever wanted

Je te donne la plume

I give you the quill pen

Moi, je n’en veux plus

Me, I don’t want it anymore

I give you the quill pen to know how to live

Parler, écrire et dessiner

To speak, write, and draw

Pour rester ivre, bien éveillé

To stay inebriated, wide awake

I give you the quill pen and my silly stuff

Garde-les

Keep them

I give you the quill pen so that you engrave

Perpétuellement la vie à construire

Perpetually the life to be built

Le mouvement si dur

The movement so hard

Je te donne la plume

I give you the quill pen

Moi, je n’en veux plus

Me, I don’t want it anymore

Voilà une heure

It’s been an hour now

Que je t’attends

Since I’m waiting

Voilà mon cœur

Here is my heart

Prudence en sortant

Careful when going out

Compter les heures

To count the hours

Depuis longtemps

Since a long time

Et revenir, mon cœur

And to come back, my heart

Disposé en sortant

Available when going out
