Man merkt, dass es bald Herbst wird in Deutschland. Während der vergangenen Nächte war es schon sehr kalt. Tagsüber scheint die Sonne zwar immer noch, aber die Temperaturen sinken allmählich merklich.
Im Frühjahr dachte ich noch, dass wir dieses Jahr einen bombastisch heißen Sommer kriegen würden, weil es an einige Frühlingstagen schon sehr schwül war. Es gab auch ein paar sehr heiße Sommertage in diesem Jahr, aber jene Tage hielten nicht lange an. Ich hatte gar nicht die Gelegenheit mich an die sommerlichen Temperaturen zu gewöhnen.
Ich erinnere mich an die wenigen sehr warmen Wochenenden, an denen ich mit Freunden an den Strand gefahren bin. Ich lag in der Sonne, sonnte mich, hörte Musik und las ein Buch. Ich konnte es nicht lange in der Sonne aus, ohne mich im kühlen Nass zu erfrischen.
Nach dem zweiten oder dritten Wochenende, dass ich am Strand verbrachte, überlegte ich mir, mir ein paar neue Schwimmutensilien zuzulegen, um meinen Aufenthalt am Strand in vollen Zügen zu genießen. Außerdem stand mir noch ein Beachfestival in der Nähe meines Wohnortes bevor. Überglücklich, freute ich mich auf zwei Tage zelten, den See, Musik, Sonne, netten Menschen und Partys. Also machte ich mich auf den Weg zum nächsten Sportgeschäft und kaufte mir eine Luftmatratze, eine Taucherbrille und einen Schnorchel.
Das bescheidene Wetter an den Tagen vor dem Beachfestival deutete mir bereits an, dass mein Sommer-Sonnen-Wochenende buchstäblich ins Wasser fallen würde. Statt Sonne und Hitze gab es an jenem Wochenende ausschließlich Regen. Überall wo ich hinschaute sah ich Menschen mit Regenschirmen, Gummistiefeln und selbstgebastelten Regenjacken aus Mülltüten.
Das erwähnte Beachfestival fand Ende Juli statt und seitdem ist das Wetter in Deutschland sehr unbeständig. Es ist ein ständiges hin und her zwischen heißen und kalten Tagen. Zum Beispiel betrug die Temperatur vergangenen Freitag zirka 36 Grad Celsius (etwas 96/97 Grad Fahrenheit) und nur einen Tag später, am Samstag, musste ich bei 18 Grad Celsius (etwa 64 Grad Fahrenheit) frieren. Wie dem auch sein mag, dieser Sommer ist nun mit Sicherheit vorbei, aber der nächste kommt bestimmt und dann werde ich mit Luftmatratze, Taucherbrille und Schnorchel gut vorbereitet sein.
You can recognize that fall is coming soon to Germany. It has already been very chilly during the last few nights. To be sure, the sun is still shining in the daytime but the temperatures gradually drop noticeably.
In springtime I thought that we would get a grandiose hot summer this year because some spring days were very muggy. There were also some hot summer days this year but those days didn’t last long. I hadn’t had the chance to get used to the summery temperatures at all.
I remember those few very warm weekends, on which I went to the beach with friends. I was lying in the sun, sunbathed, listened to music, and read a book. I couldn’t stand being in the sun for long without refreshing myself in the cool waters.
After the second or third weekend on the beach I considered to get myself some new swimming equipments in order to enjoy my stay on the beach to the fullest. Additionally, there was a beach festival coming up near my residence. Overjoyed, I was looking forward to two days camping, the lake, music, sun, nice people, and parties. So, I hit the road to the nearest sports store and got myself a swimming mattress, diving googles, and a snorkel.
The humble weather ahead of the beach festival had already indicated that my summer-sun-weekend would literally fall through. Instead of sun and heat, there was only rain on that particular weekend. Everywhere I looked at I saw people with umbrellas, gumboots, and home-made rainjackets made of trash bags.
The mentioed beach festival took place at the end of July and since then the weather in Germany is very unsettled. It has been a constant back and forth between hot and cool days. For example, last Friday the temperature was circa 36 degrees Celsius (about 96/97 degrees Fahrenheit) and only one day later, on Saturday, I had to freeze at 18 degrees Celsius (about 64 degrees Fahrenheit). Be that as it may, this summer is certainly over but the next on is definitly coming up and then I will be well prepared with my swimming mattress, diving googles, and snorkel.
