About the Author: Sandra Rösner

Hello everybody! I studied English and American Studies, Communication Science, and Political Science at the University of Greifswald. Since I have been learning English as a second language myself for almost 20 years now I know how difficult it is to learn a language other than your native one. Thus, I am always willing to keep my explanations about German grammar comprehensible and short. Further, I am inclined to encourage you to speak German in every situation. Regards, Sandra

  1. joseph:

very interesting. I hope that you will have more segments like this

  2. Karen:

Ich mag Silbermond sehr. “Himmel Auf” ist eines meiner Lieblingslieder.

  3. marcia bernhard:

Nice post. However, the English word ‘happiness’, rather than ‘luck’, is more appropriate in these contexts.

  4. Cecilia:

    Hello,
    a wonderful theme!
And it is very interesting to know what different kinds of luck there are for the different people.

    Thank you

  5. Sebastian:

Glück für mich ist wenn ich meine Familie sehen kann.

  6. Amanda:

I was reminded of this video today and wanted to share it with a friend who doesn’t speak German. I remembered seeing a translation of it somewhere, and I’m glad I came back across it. Thanks for taking the time to do this!

  7. colin silcox:

I am always intrigued (and confused) by the linguistic closeness of luck/happiness in German. Is there a difference? Or does it “depend on the context” (every language learner’s *favourite* phrase!)

    • Sandra:

      @colin silcox Hi Collin,

      can give some examples please?

      Sandra

  8. jai vee:

Thank you .. now I know what to say to my lovely German Friend…… “Kein Streit …Frieden”
