1. μητέρα: mother

2. ζωή: life

3. πατρίδα: homeland

Οι πρόσφυγες βρίσκονται πολύ μακριά από την πατρίδα τους. / The refugees are very far from their homeland.

4. γη: earth. In Greek mythology, Γαία (Gaea) was the goddess of the earth.

5. θάλασσα: sea. In Greek mythology, Θάλασσα was the goddess of the sea.

Τα παιδιά βούτηξαν στη θάλασσα. / The children dived into the sea.

6. φύση: nature

Η φύση είναι η μοναδική μας περιουσία. / Nature is our only asset.

7. σελήνη: moon. In Greek mythology, Σελήνη is the goddess of the moon. She is the sister of Ήλιος (Sun) and Ηώς (Dawn).

Η σελήνη γυρίζει γύρω από τη γη. / The moon goes around the earth.

8. γιορτή: celebration, party

Οι μαθητές οργάνωσαν μία ωραία γιορτή για το τέλος της σχολικής χρονιάς. / The students organized a nice party to celebrate the end of the schoolyear.

9. μουσική: music

“Ποιος παίζει τόσο ωραία μουσική;” “Ο Αντώνης παίζει φλάουτο.” / “Who is playing such nice music?” “Antonis is playing the flute.”

10. μελωδία: melody

Αυτό το νανούρισμα έχει υπέροχη μελωδία. / This lullaby has a great melody (lit).

15. αγάπη: love

16. ειρήνη: peace

19. επιστήμη: science

Η βιολογία είναι πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα επιστήμη. / Biology is a very interesting science.

20. αλήθεια: truth

Είπαν την αλήθεια χωρίς να φοβούνται. / They told the truth without being scared.
