Γεια σας! In this post there are two phone conversations.  Number 1 is about ordering pizza and number 2 is about making a doctor appointment. The dialogues are translated directly, because it is important to see the structure of the sentences in oral speech. You will find the recordings are at the end of each dialogue. #1 Παραγγέλνω φαγητό

Α.«Παλατίνο», λέγετε παρακαλώ.

“Palatino”, speak please.

Β:Γεια σας. Ήθελα να κάνω μία παραγγελία.

Hello. I would like to place an order.

Α:Ναι. Θα μου δώσετε ένα τηλέφωνο, παρακαλώ;

Yes. Will you give me a phone number, please?

Β:2106473577.

Α:Μία διεύθυνση;

What is your address? (Literally: an address?)

Β:Σινώπης 88.

Sinopis 88.

Α:Τι όνομα γράφει το κουδούνι;

What’s the name on the door? (What name is written on the doorbell?)

Β:Ελευθερίου.

Eleftheriou.

Α:Μάλιστα. Πείτε μου.

Ok. What would like to order? (Literally: tell me)

Β:Θα ήθελα μία πίτσα μαργαρία, μεσαία, με λεπτή ζύμη και μία μπίρα.

I would like to have a pizza margherita, medium, thin and one beer.

Α:Ωραία. Κάτι άλλο;

Fine. Anything else?

Β:Όχι.

No.

Α:Είναι  7 και 40, σε τριάντα λεπτά θα είμαστε εκεί.

It costs 7.40, we will be there in thirty minutes.

Β:Ευχαριστώ πολύ. Γεια σας.

#2. Κλείνω ραντεβού στο γιατρό

Α:Ιατρείο παθολόγου Σοφίας Οικονόμου, λέγεται παρακαλώ.

(Literally)  This is the medical office of the general doctor Sophia Economou, speak, please.

Β:Καλησπέρα. Λέγομαι Παπασταύρου. Θα ήθελα να κλείσω ένα ραντεβού με την γιατρό.

Good evening. My name is Papastavrou. I would like to make an appointment with the doctor.

Α:Μάλιστα. Έχετε ξαναέρθει στο ιατρείο μας;

Certainly. Have you been to our medical office before?

Β:Ναι. Πριν από έξι μήνες.

Yes. Six months ago.

Α:Να σας ενημερώσω ότι έχουμε αλλάξει διεύθυνση. Τώρα είμαστε στην οδό Θηβών 33, στον πρώτο όροφο. Είναι απέναντι από το Νοσοκομείο «Ίασις».

I would like to inform you that our address has changed. Now we are at 33 street Thivon , at the first floor. It is opposite the “Iasis”Hospital.

Β:Α, ναι. Ξέρω πού είναι.

Yes. I know where it is.

Α:Ωραία.  Η γιατρός δέχεται Δευτέρα, Τρίτη και Παρασκευή από τις  5 μέχρι τις 9.

(Literally) Good. The doctor accepts (the patients) on Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 5 to 9.

Β:Μπορώ να έρθω την Παρασκευή στις 7;

May I come on Friday at 7?

Α:Παρασκευή στις 7, κυρία Παπασταύρου. Ωραία. Θα μου δώσετε και ένα τηλέφωνο, παρακαλώ;

Friday at 7, Ms. Papastavrou. Fine. Will you also give me your telephone number, please?

Β:Ναι, το κινητό μου είναι 6917003550.

Yes, my mobile phone number is 6917003550.

Α:Εντάξει. Σας ευχαριστώ, κυρία Παπασταύρου.

Ok. Thank you, Ms. Papastavrou.

Β:Εγώ ευχαριστώ. Γεια σας.
