In India, the administrative offices have to use Hindi which should be formal and specific. The official vocabulary for such administrative purposes are usually in pure Hindi (Shudh Hindi) with majority of the words derived from Sanskrit.

Lets have a look into some of common words used in Indian administration in this post. The words are arranged in English and its translation into Hindi with their romanized spellings.

1. Accusation = अभियोग (Abhiyog)
2. Acting = कार्यकारी (karikaari)
3. Law = नियम (Niyam)
4. Administration = प्रशासन (Prashaashan)
5. Advance = अग्रिम (Agrim)
6. Allowance = भत्ता (Bhatta)
6. Right/Authority = अधिकार (Adhikar)
7. Bench = न्यायपीठ (Nyaaypith)
8. Census = जनगणना (Jangardna)
9. Clerk = लिपिक (Lipik)
10. Constitution = सविधान (Savidhaan)
11. Commission = आयोग (Aayog)
12. Correspondence = पत्राचार (Patraachaar)
13. Corruption = भ्रष्टाचार (Bhrashtraachaar)
14. Democracy = प्रजातंत्र (Prajaatantr)
15. Delegate = प्रतिनिधि (Pratinidhi)
16. Deputation = शिष्टमंडल (Shishtamandal)
17. Director = निदेशक (Nideshak)
18. Election = चुनाव (Chunaav)
19. Embassy = दूतावास (Dutaavaas)
20. Engineer = अभियंता (Abhiyantaa)
21. Estimate = आकलन (Aakalan)
22. Estate = सम्पदा (Sampadaa)
23. Exchange = विनियम (Viniyam)
24. Export = नियात (Niyaat)
25. Faculty = निकाय (Nikaaya)
26. Finance = वित्त (Vitta)
27. Formula = सूत्र (Sutra)
28. Governor = राज्यपाल (Rajpaal)
29. Headquarter = मुख्यालय (Mukhyaalaya)
30. Highway = राजपथ (Raajpath)
31. Illegal = अवैध (Avedh)
32. Import = आयात (Aayaat)
33. Joint = संयुक्त (Sanyukt)
34. Ministry = मंत्रालय (Mantralaya)
35. Offence/Crime = अपराध (Aparaadh)
36. Official = शासकीय (Shaasakiya)
37. Parliament = संसद (Sansad)
40. Pay = वेतन (Vetan)
41. Recognition = मान्यता (Maanyataa)
42. Reservation = आरक्षरण (Aarakshan)
43. Section = अनुभाग (Anubhaag)
44. Senior = वरिष्ठ (Varishth)
45. Superintendent = अधीक्षक (Adhikshak)
46. Transport = परिवहन (Parivahan)
47. Tribunal = अधिकरण (Adhikaran)
48. Circular = परिपत्र (Paripatra)
49. Order = आदेश (Aadesh)
50. Program = कार्यक्रम (Kaaryakram)
