Interesting topic for you again. In Hindi movies, those lovely Hindi songs are not performed by an actor/actress but playback singers. So, do you know those Hindi playback singers who performed/performing songs in Hindi films?
In this post, I will try to cover some of the most famous playback singers from previous generation (1940s-80s). I have attached some of the famous songs from each of them. In next post, I cover from present generation (1990s- present).
Kishore Kumar (Hindi: किशोर कुमार; 4 August 1929 – 13 October 1987) was not just a very famous Indian male playback singer and an actor but also a lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and scriptwriter of Indian cinema.
Mohammed Rafi (Hindi: मोहम्मद रफ़ी; December 24, 1924 – July 31, 1980), was a another very famous Indian male playback singer. His career went for four decades.
Lata Mangeshkar (Hindi: लता मंगेशकर; September 28, 1929 – ) is a female playback singer from India. She is one of the best-known and most respected playback singers in India. She started singing as playback singer in 1942 and she is still singing. For her service to the Indian music and film industry, she was bestowed by Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.
Mahendra Kapoor (Hindi: महेन्द्र कपूर; January 9, 1934 – September 27, 2008) was an another important male playback singer in the Indian cinema.
His career was of five decades. He has sang around 25,000 songs in various regional Indian languages including.
Asha Bhosle (Hindi: आशा भोसले; September 8, 1933 – ) is a female Indian playback singer. She has not just performed singing for the Indian cinema, but also recorded many solo albums and has participated in numerous concerts in India and abroad. She is the sister of playback singer Lata Mangeshkar.
Mukesh Chand Mathur (Hindi: मुकेश चन्द माथुर; 22 July 1923 – 27 August 1976) who was famously known just as Mukesh. He was an another quite respectable Indian playback singer. He sang along with Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar and gave some of the most memorable songs of the era.
