Short Story in Hindi – The crows and the serpent Posted by on Jul 23, 2014 in Hindi Language

Today, I will translate a very interesting story from Panchatantra (a very popular series of animal fables from ancient India). Hope you will practice your reading comprehension in Hindi, the story is as follow.

Once upon a time there lived a crow couple, who had built a nest on the top of a tree. But unfortunately the tree was inhabited by a serpent at its bottom. So the snake used to crawl up the tree and eat all the eggs that the lady crow used to lay. The crow couple were deeply grieved when they saw what happened after returning to their nest and when this happened time after time, then they decided to get rid of the snake.

So the crow then approached his friend the jackal told him everything. The jackal then told him to go and fetch a costly thing from the palace of the king and throw the thing in the burrow of the snake. The crow went to palace, and stole a necklace of the queen. After seeing the crow taking her necklace, she directed the giards to fetch her necklace from the crow. The guards of the palace ran after the crow to the forest. As the crow reached the tree, he dropped the necklace in the burrow of the snake beneath the tree.

The guard saw the crow throwing queen’s necklace into the burrow. The guards on reaching the tree, he recovered the necklace by killing the the snake who used to live in that burrow.

This way the crow family get rid of the snake.

The motto of the story is, by using brain you can beat even your adverse and powerful enemy.
