India is a land of festivals and fairs. Because of cultural and religion diversity (विविधता – Vividhata), there is a festival (त्योहार – Thyohar) or fair (मेला – Mela) almost every week. Out of this fairs, there is a handicraft fair which is called Surajkund Mela (सूरजकुंड मेला) worth mentioning. This fair is organized every year in the month of February. It is organized in Surajkund town in Faridabad city which is located in the outskirts (उपनगर – Upnagar) of New Delhi.

The fair showcases some of the best crafts in wood, metal, bamboo, iron, glass, textiles and stone from almost every corner of India. Many craftsmen (शिल्पी – Shilpi) from nearby countries also participate in this fair. The unique feature of this fair is, each year the fair is organized (संयोजित – Sanyojit) with a theme based on a state of India. The venue is decorated (सज्जित – Sajjit) with specific colors, materials, architecture, furniture and decorations so as to give its visitor ambiance (परिवेश – Parivesh) of that state.
