When learning a new language, a great strategy is to focus your attention on the most common words. You’d be surprised at how far you can go with just a few hundred words. This is especially true in Indonesia, where learning the most common words goes a long way. We’re here to help you do just that in a 2-part series about the 100 most common Indonesian words. For this week, you can study the 50 most common words in Indonesian.

Take that list of the 50 most common Indonesian words and make flash cards out of them. Most of the words are very short and are easy to remember. They’re also super important for beginners to master early on. See if you can take some of the 50 most common words and make some simple sentences, such as “Saya ingin itu” (I want that) or “Mereka pergi ke pantai” (They go to the beach).
