Of all the adventures that await you in Indonesia, perhaps none is more spectacular than a visit to Kawah Ijen. Deep in this volcanic crater, in the middle of the night, you can see the famed blue fire. It’s not lava, but a result of the combustion of sulfuric gases. You’ll also see the sulfur miners hard at work, hauling baskets full of the heavy rocks up the mountain.
