A expressão keep one’s eyes on the ball é usada em diversos contextos para requerer de alguém atenção total desde o início até o fim de determinada atividade. Sua origem é a recomendação feita a todo rebatedor, pois ele terá maiores possibilidades de lograr uma boa rebatida se mantiver os olhos atentos na bola desde o momento em que ela deixa as mãos do arremessador até fazer contato com o taco.
