The job interview I Posted by on Dec 17, 2009 in Negócios

You have applied for that great position you were longing for and now comes the job interview. You know your English is pretty good but you want to make sure you make the best impression on your interviewers.

The interviewer might talk a little about the company and about the position they are offering so you might as well read up on the company’s story, its foundation and the kind of work it does.

So after the pleasantries have finished, he will want to get down to business and ask, “Tell me about yourself.” Prepare your answers beforehand and rehearse them. Make sure to talk about where you are from originally, where you went to school (university) and where you have worked so far. Don’t focus on any specific job because he will come to this point later on.

Another question he might as is “Why do you think you are suitable for this position?”. Try to show in your answer that you really want to work at that company because its values and mission match with yours, and that you feel you would be of great value to the company and your working there would make you grow as a person and also as a professional. But don’t exaggerate!

Next be ready to talk about your strengths and weaknesses. When you talk about your strengths try not to sound too stuck-up and self-sufficient and when you talk about your weaknesses show this weakness as actually a strength. For example, you can say that sometimes you spend too much time making sure the client has had his needs met and is satisfied.

This is it for today. See you next time!
