Italian musician and composer Ludovico Einaudi has collaborated with Greenpeace to produce a stunning music video aimed at raising awareness of the perilous state of the Arctic. Click on the link below to watch.

La performance dell’artista italiano si è svolta di fronte al ghiacciaio Wahlenbergbreen, alle Isole Svalbard (Norvegia), in sostegno della campagna di Greenpeace a difesa dell’Artico.

Spectacular images of Ludovico Einaudi, world famous musician and composer, playing his unpublished “Elegy for the Arctic” on a floating platform off the coast of the Glacial Arctic Sea. The artist’s performance took place in front of the Wahlenbergbreen glacier at Svalbard Islands (Norway) in support of Greenpeace’s Arctic defence campaign.

Einaudi ha raggiunto il ghiacciaio a bordo della nave “Arctic Sunrise” di Greenpeace, unendosi all’appello firmato da quasi otto milioni di persone per chiedere alla comunità internazionale di sottoscrivere al più presto un accordo che protegga l’Artico dallo sfruttamento e dai cambiamenti climatici.

Einaudi reached the glacier on board Greenpeace’s ship “Arctic Sunrise”, in support of an appeal signed by almost eight million people asking the international community to undersign an agreement as soon as possible protecting the Arctic from exploitation and climate change.

“Arrivare qui è un’esperienza incredibile. L’Artico non è un deserto ma un luogo pieno di vita. Ho potuto vedere con i miei occhi la purezza e la fragilità di quest’area meravigliosa. E suonare una mia composizione ispirata alla bellezza dell’Artico e alle minacce che subisce a causa del riscaldamento globale. Dobbiamo comprendere l’importanza dell’Artico per proteggerlo prima che sia troppo tardi”, ha commentato Ludovico Einaudi.

“Coming here is an incredible experience. The Arctic isn’t a desert but a place full of life. I’ve been able to see with my own eyes the purity and fragility of this marvellous area, and to play one of my compositions, inspired by the beauty of the Arctic and the menaces which it suffers due to global warming. We need to understand the importance of the Arctic in order to protect it before it’s too late”, commented Ludovico Einaudi.
