It’s Wonderful – Via Con Me Posted by on Jul 3, 2014 in Italian Language

Paolo Conte, singer, pianist, composer, artist and lawyer, was born in Asti, Piemonte, in 1937. The first time I became aware of his music was when watching one of my favourite comedy films, Anthony and Joe Russo’s Welcome to Collingwood, a remake of Mario Monicelli’s 1958 film I Soliti Ignoti (English title: Big Deal on Madonna Street). Without further ado, here is It’s Wonderful with my translation into English. Click on the photo below, sit back, and enjoy the music (credits for the film clips used are given in the ‘About’ section below the video).

It’s Wonderful – Via Con Me

via via vieni via di qui
niente più ti lega a questi luoghi
neanche questi fiori azzurri
via via neanche questo tempo grigio
pieno di musiche
e di uomini che ti son piaciuti

away away come away from here
nothing binds you to this place anymore
not even these blue flowers
away away not even this grey weather
full of music
and of men that you liked

it’s wonderful it’s wonderful
it’s wonderful good luck my baby
it’s wonderful it’s wonderful
it’s wonderful I dream of you

(do you really want me to translate this for you?)

via via vieni via con me
entra in questo amore buio
non perderti per niente al mondo
via via non perderti per niente al mondo
lo spettacolo d’arte varia
di uno innamorato di te

away away come away with me
enter into this dark love
don’t miss, for anything in the world,
the multimedia show
of someone in love with you

it’s wonderful it’s wonderful
it’s wonderful good luck my baby
it’s wonderful it’s wonderful
it’s wonderful I dream of you

Via, via, vieni via con me,
entra in questo amore buio,
pieno di uomini…
via, entra e fatti un bagno caldo,
c’è un accappatoio azzurro,
fuori piove un mondo freddo….

away away come away with me
enter into this dark love
full of men …
away, come in and have a hot bath
there’s a blue bathrobe,
outside a cold world is raining …

It’s wonderful, it’s wonderful, it’s wonderful,
good luck my baby,
it’s wonderful, its wonderful, it’s wonderful,
I dream of you….

Thanks, it’s wonderful indeed. Not sure why, but many Italians these days sing along “niente più ti lega a questi luoghi”

  2. Jane:

How interesting! I was trying to break down the word “tuttavia” in order to understand the meaning, and tried to memorize it as “all things aside” thus “nonetheless”, before I found this wonderful song. It felt wonderful that for the first time, I can understand most of the meaning without checking the translation! Thank you for introducing the song and all the translation Geoff! Now I have a habbit of searching words on your blog for learning, and I learn so much faster 🙂

    • Geoff:

@Jane Non c’è di che Jane!

      A presto, Geoff

  3. Christie:
