Talking about il tempo, the weather

Ciao a tutti! Finalmente fa bellissimo fuori, è davvero primavera. Hi everyone! Finally is is beautiful outside, it really is spring!

Today I wanted to present some weather vocabulary to you, all of which come straight from our courses on Transparent Language Online. (Which, did you know your local library may be able to get you a free subscription?!)

It is snowing – Sta nevicando
It is hot and humid – Fa caldo e umido
The weather will be great tomorrow  – Il tempo sarà bellissimo domani
It is sleeting – Sta piovendo nevischio
What is the weather forecast? – Quali sono le previsioni del tempo?
It is cold – Fa freddo
It is raining right now – Sta piovendo proprio ora
It is raining – Sta piovendo
Will it rain today? – Pioverà oggi?
It is hot – Fa caldo
It will be warm and sunny tomorrow – Farà caldo e bello domani
What is the temperature? – Quanti gradi ci sono?
It’s 10 degrees – Ci sono 10 gradi
It never rains Non piove mai
It’s nice out – Fa bello
The weather is bad today and tomorrow – Fa brutto oggi e domani
It’s too hot today – Oggi fa troppo caldo
to rain – piovere
What’s the weather like today? – Che tempo fa oggi?
In winter, it snows and it’s windy – In inverno nevica e c’è vento
fog – la nebbia
cloud – la nuvola
to snow – nevicare
It’s cold and cloudy – Fa freddo ed è nuvoloso
There’s a lot of fog in Northern Italy – Nel Nord Italia c’è molta nebbia
It’s sunny – C’è il sole
Southern Italy is very dry – Il Sud Italia è molto secco

La temperatura – temperature

La temperatura in Italia è espressa con la scala Celsius. The temperature in Italy is expressed with the Celsius scale.

Some conversions for temperature:

  • 0 degrees Celsius is equal to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. (The freezing point)
  • 32 degrees Celsius is 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • 24 degrees Celsius is 75 degrees Fahrenheit
  • 10 degrees Celsius is 50 degrees Fahrenheit
  • To convert Celsius (c) to Fahrenheit, use the formula (c x 1.8) + 32

    Ciao Bridgette. Lei è molto fortunata. Io vivo vicino a Oxford, Inghilterra dove il tempo è bruttissimo. Vento, piove è nevischio oggi. È anche molto freddo, come in inverno. In questo momento vorrei andare in Italia.
